explorer
A person who travels to unknown or unfamiliar places to discover new things.

To unexpectedly experience or be faced with something, or to meet someone.
ruined
Describes a building or place that has been destroyed or has decayed over time.
civilisation
A complex human society, often with its own culture, government, and social structure.
academic
A teacher or scholar in a university or other institute of higher education.
achievement
A thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.
exploration
The action of traveling in or through an unfamiliar area in order to learn about it.
remote
Located far away from the main centers of population; distant.
hinterland
The remote areas of a country away from the coast or the banks of major rivers.
locate
To find the exact place or position of something.
remains
The parts of an ancient building or body that are left after the rest has been destroyed or has decayed.
empire
An extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme authority.
plateau
An area of relatively level high ground.
elevation
The height of a place above a given level, such as sea level.
descend
To move or fall downward.
valley
A low area of land between hills or mountains, often with a river running through it.
circuitous
A route or journey that is longer than the most direct way; roundabout.
dramatic
Striking or impressive in appearance or effect.
canyon
A deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it.
mountain range
A series or line of mountains connected by high ground.
advantage
A condition or circumstance that puts one in a favorable or superior position.

To come before something in time, order, or rank.

To blow up or break apart something using explosives.

To give someone or something the authority or means to do something.
mule
An animal that is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse, often used to carry supplies.
