Analytic Psychology
A psychological theory developed by Carl Jung that emphasizes the role of the unconscious and collective unconscious in shaping personality.
Ego
The center of consciousness that opposes the personal unconscious.
Personal Unconscious
Consists of repressed or forgotten experiences and is the home of complexes.
Collective Unconscious
An inherited storehouse of archetypes, universal themes and images shared by humanity.
Shadow
The darker, instinctual self that comprises the repressed side of personality.
Anima/Animus
The feminine side of men (anima) and masculine side of women (animus) that fosters understanding of the opposite sex.
Libido
The general psychic energy that drives behaviors and is not purely sexual.
Teleology
The philosophical study of design and purpose in nature, especially as it applies to psychological growth.
Principle of Synchronicity
The experience of meaningful coincidences that appear to be related and show a hidden order beyond causality.
Complexes
Emotionally charged ideas or experiences that unconsciously influence behavior.
Archetypes
Universal, symbolic images shared by all people, residing in the collective unconscious.
Extraversion
A personality attitude characterized by energy flowing outward towards the outer world and activities.
Introversion
A personality attitude characterized by energy flowing inward towards thoughts and subjective experiences.
Thinking (rational)
A cognitive function focused on logic, understanding, and truth.
Feeling (rational)
A cognitive function focused on value, harmony, and emotional worth.
Sensation (irrational)
A cognitive function that focuses on concrete facts and present realities.
Intuition (irrational)
A cognitive function that focuses on possibilities and future potential.

A psychological test used to reveal complexes through delayed or emotional reactions to stimulus words.
