Autofocus single
Best for still subjects, if subject moves, cam will have to refocus
Autofocus continuous
More advanced than autofocus single mode, camera will continue to track the subject even if it moves around. Best for moving subjects such as wildlife and sports
Automatic autofocus
Mix of single and continuous AF modes
Depth of field
How much of the image is showing
Deep depth of field
A large portion of the image is showing
Aperture
Adjustable opening in the camera lens that controls how much light is reaching the sensor and also affects how much the image is in focus. Low F number is a wide aperture and creates a shallow depth of field more light reaching the sensors
Focal length
The distance between the len'S optical center and the cameras sensor. Shorter focal length=deeper depth of field
Shutter speed
Controls how long the shutters will be exposed to light. A higher shutter speed such as 1/25 is for moving objects that we want to freeze in motion, and more light.
