What are Squamous cells?

• squashed (flat) cells, attach to other cells like tiles

• allows for rapid passages of substance through them

Where is Simple Squamous ET found?

• found in alveoli, lining of heart and blood vessels

Where is Simple Cuboidal ET found?

• found in ducts of excrement and endocrine glands

Where is Simple Columnar ET found?

• if ciliated (has goblet cells)- trachea and fallopian tubes

• non-ciliated (no goblet cells)- lining of GI tract

Stratified Squamous ET

• multiple layers of squamous cells

• 2 kinds - keratinized and nonkeratinized

Stratified Squamous Keratinized ET

• found in skin, usually palms and soles

• has layers of dead cells

Stratified Squamous Non-Keratinized

• found inside wet surfaces in body
