A cold, dilute, alkaline KMnO4 (potassium permanganate) solution used to test for unsaturation (alkenes/alkynes).
Atropisomerism
A type of axial chirality shown by substituted biphenyls arising from restricted rotation around the Ar-Ar bond due to bulky ortho substituents.
Borneol
A bicyclic monoterpene with the formula C10, whereas Linalool is an acyclic monoterpene.
Barbituric acid
The parent compound of sedative-hypnotics formed by the condensation of malonic acid and urea.
Fractional distillation
