Sagittal Suture
The suture that runs along the sagittal plane, creating the cone shape in a newborn's head.
Coronal Suture
The suture that runs along the coronal plane, between the frontal and parietal bones.
Squamous Suture
The suture located on the side between the temporal and parietal bones.
Lambdoid Suture
The suture located at the back of the skull between the occipital and parietal bones.
Zygomatic Bone
The bone that forms the cheekbones.
Maxilla
The upper jaw bone, which also contains the maxillary sinuses.
Palatine Bone
The bone that forms the back part of the roof of the mouth.
Lacrimal Bone
The bone that contains the tear ducts.
Nasal Bone
The bone that forms the bridge of the nose.
Mandible
The lower jaw bone.
Coronoid Process
The projection located at the anterior side of the ramus of the mandible.
Condyle
The rounded projection at the posterior side of the ramus of the mandible.
Mental Foramen
The opening located in the mental region of the mandible.
Alveolar Margin
The ridge in the mandible where teeth are located (not needed to remember).
Bregma
The point where the coronal and sagittal sutures meet.
Lambda
The point where the parietal and occipital bones meet.
