Basic Manicure Procedure

Step 1

Sanitize your hands

Step 2

sanitize clients hands

step 3

remove polish from both hands

step 4

perform a visual analysis on clients hands

step 5

determine nail shape (trim if necessary)

step 6

file and shape free edge (L hand)

step 7

place L hand in water bowl

step 8

file and shape free edge (R hand)

step 9

use nail brush to clean nail plate while in water (L hand)

step 10

dry hand off completely (L)

step 11

place R hand into water bowl

step 12

apply cuticle remover to L hand (via swab)

step 13

push back cuticles (L)

step 14

nip cuticles/ hang nails (L)

step 15

clean under free edge (L)

step 16

use nail brush to clean nail plate while in water (R)

step 17

remove R hand from water bowl

step 18

dry R hand off completely

step 19

repeat steps 12,13,14,15 on R hand

step 20

buff and remove ridges on nails on both hands

step 21

apply cuticle oil to nails via swab

step 22

warm lotion in hands then apply to L hand and arm

step 23

perform massage movements on L hand and arm (effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, vibration)

steps 24

repeat steps 22 and 23 on R hand and arm

step 25

use alcohol to remove massage product from the nail bed

step 26

dehydrate nail bed

step 27

apply base coat > color coat> top coat

step 28

clean up excess polish from skin
