Community Health Nursing (CHN)
A synthesis of nursing skills, sociology, and public health practices focused on achieving OLOF by teaching and delivering care to individuals, families, aggregates, and communities.

Children <2 years old receive a half tablet, while children >2 years old receive 1 full tablet.
Visual Acuity Screening
Conducted using the Snellen chart; a normal result is 20/20. If results are 20/40 or higher, the child should be referred for observation.
CHN vs. CBN
CHN targets the community/family for wellness and prevention (Primary level), while Community Based Nursing (CBN) targets sick individuals for diagnosis and cure (Secondary/Tertiary levels).
TB DOTS Intensive Phase
A 2-month period requiring daily treatment observed by a BHW or relative.
Genogram
A tool for presenting family structure by genealogy, using a SQUARE for Male and a CIRCLE for Female.
Blended Family
A family type consisting of children from a previous marriage.
Family Cycle School-Age Stage
Families with children aged 6 to 13 years old; the oldest child serves as the basis for the stage.
Bitot’s Spot
A whitish/grayish triangular patch on the eye indicative of Vitamin A deficiency and Xerophthalmia.
Micronutrient Supplementation Timing
Targeted for children 5 years and below during GP 1 (April) and GP 2 (October) with a 6month interval.
Vitamin A Supplementation Dosage
For children 6−11 months: 100,000IUs; for children 1−5 years: 200,000IUs every 6 months.

Basic 6 Newborn Screening Disorders
Congenital hypothyroidism, Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Galactosemia, Phenylketonuria, G6PD deficiency, and Maple syrup urine disease.
Tetanus Toxoid 2 (TT2)
Administered 1month after TT1, providing 3years of protection at an 80% success rate.
