ADMINISTRATION ALERTS (2)

• platelet aggregation inhibition is irreversible

• discontinue before surgery

ADVERSE EFFECTS (2)

gastric discomfort, bleeding (due to antiplatelet effects)

CONTRAINDICATIONS

anticoagulant therapy (warfarin/heparin)

DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS (3/7)

• decreased effect w/ concurrent use of phenobarbital, antacids, glucosteroids

• increased effect w/ oral hypoglycemic drugs

• NSAIDs, uricosuric drugs, sulfadrugs → increased risk for gastric ulcers
