Domains and Kingdoms
Biological classification organized based on cell type, ability to make food, and number of cells.
Domain Eukarya
A domain containing organisms whose cells have a nucleus and other organelles, including kingdoms Protista, Fungi, Plant, and Animal.
Kingdom Protista
Known as the 'odds and ends kingdom' within Domain Eukarya, includes organisms like seaweed and algae.
Kingdom Fungi
A kingdom within Domain Eukarya, most members are multicellular heterotrophs, found almost everywhere on land, includes mushrooms, mold, and mildew.
Heterotrophs
Organisms that obtain food by consuming other organisms or organic matter.
Kingdom Plant
A kingdom within Domain Eukarya, members are multicellular autotrophs, with most living on land.
Autotrophs
Organisms that produce their own food, typically through photosynthesis.
Kingdom Animal
A kingdom within Domain Eukarya, members are multicellular heterotrophs with adaptations to take in food.
Domain Archaea
One of the three domains of life, containing prokaryotic organisms, including subgroups like crenarchaeota, euryarchaeota, and korarchaeota, each having one kingdom.
Domain Bacteria
One of the three domains of life, containing prokaryotic organisms, each having one kingdom.
