• system that produces reports for managers to monitor daily business

• used mostly by middle managers

• focus on summary, routine & structured information

Example for MIS?

• sales report per month

• attendance report

Purpose for MIS ?

• know what’s going on in company

• control operation

Decision Support System (DSS) ?

• system that helps make decisions, not just reports.

• used mostly by managers when situation is not a routine, need analysis and “what if”.

Features for DSS ?

• can change number and see result

• use charts, models, forecasting

Example for DSS ?

• choose location for new company

• comparing loan options
