Men: dysuria(painful urine, discharge, asymptomatic infection is uncommon

Specimen transport for gonorrhea

Capnophilic atmosphere, direct plating of specimen on jembec Gono-park, trans grow, specimen rolled in z pattern

If plating isn’t available use Amie’s medium with charcoal and plate within 6 hours

Small grey translucent raised, t1&t2 smaller raised and brighter, t3 to t5 larger flatter colonies, oxidase positive, catalase positive, purple to black oxidase
