Basketball
A sport invented in 1891 by James Naismith, which evolved from a need for an indoor game during winter.
FIBA
International Basketball Federation, the global governing body for basketball.
Dribbling
The skill of controlling the ball while moving by bouncing it on the floor.
Passing
Transferring the ball to a teammate to advance play or create scoring opportunities.
Shooting
The skill of scoring points by throwing the ball into the hoop.
Rebounding
Gaining possession of the ball after a missed shot attempt.
Defense
The ability to stop the opponent from scoring.
Footwork
Proper movement to maintain balance, change direction, and create space.
Badminton
A sport invented in 1895 by William G. Morgan as a less physically demanding alternative to basketball.
Shuttlecock
Also known as a birdie, it is the object used in badminton game.
Grip (Badminton)
Proper grip ensures better control and power in badminton shots.
Forehand Grip
Similar to shaking hands with the racket.
Backhand Grip
The thumb rests on the wider part of the handle for backhand shots.
Serving (Badminton)
Techniques for serving include low serve, high serve, flick serve, and drive serve.
Clear Shot
A deep shot to push the opponent to the backcourt in badminton.
Drop Shot
A shot that lands near the net in badminton.
Attacking Stance
A lean forward position with knees slightly bent, racket ready for action.
Defensive Stance
A crouched position with feet wide apart, ready to react.
Itik-Itik
A traditional folk dance mimicking the movements of a duck, originated in the province of Surigao del Norte.
Maglalatik
A dance originating from Binan, Laguna, representing a battle between Christian and Muslim Moro tribesmen.
