Bipolar I Disorder
Mood disorder with at least one manic episode (often with depressive episodes).
Bipolar II Disorder
Mood disorder with at least one hypomanic episode and one major depressive episode, never a full manic episode.
Cyclothymic Disorder
Chronic mood disturbance with numerous periods of hypomanic and depressive symptoms that do not meet criteria for mania or major depressive episode.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Pattern of angry/irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior, and vindictiveness toward authority figures.
Conduct Disorder
Repeated violations of rights of others or societal norms; aggression, property destruction, deceit/theft, or serious rule violations.
Anorexia Nervosa
Restriction of energy intake leading to low body weight; intense fear of gaining weight and distorted body image.
Bulimia Nervosa
Recurrent binge eating followed by compensatory behaviors (e.g., vomiting, laxatives).
Binge Eating Disorder
Recurrent episodes of binge eating without regular compensatory behaviors.
Alcohol Use Disorder
Problematic pattern of alcohol use causing distress or impairment in functioning.
Heroin
Opioid drug; can lead to dependence, withdrawal, respiratory depression, and potentially death.
Cocaine
Stimulant drug; can cause dependence; withdrawal includes depression, fatigue, sleep problems, irritability, and anxiety.
Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Chronic excessive worry about multiple domains with physical symptoms, lasting several months.
Panic Disorder
Recurrent unexpected panic attacks and ongoing concern about future attacks.
Specific Phobias
Intense, irrational fear of a specific object or situation causing avoidance.
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
Intense fear of social or performance situations leading to avoidance.
Agoraphobia
Fear of places or situations where escape might be difficult or help unavailable.
Separation Anxiety Disorder
Excessive fear concerning separation from attachment figures, beyond what is expected for age.
Obsessions
Recurrent intrusive thoughts, images, or impulses.
Compulsions
Repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed in response to an obsession.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Disorder featuring obsessions and/or compulsions causing distress or impairment.
PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; after exposure to trauma with intrusion, avoidance, negative mood, and arousal symptoms.
Somatic Symptom Disorder
Persistent physical symptoms with excessive thoughts/feelings/behaviors related to symptoms.
Illness Anxiety Disorder
Preoccupation with having or acquiring a serious illness, with minimal somatic symptoms.
Conversion Disorder
Neurological symptoms (e.g., weakness, paralysis) not explained by medical condition, often after stress.
Hoarding Disorder
Persistent difficulty discarding possessions, leading to clutter and distress.
Trichotillomania
Hair-pulling resulting in hair loss.
Excoriation
Chronic skin-picking resulting in tissue damage.
Adjustment Disorder
Emotional/behavioral symptoms in response to identifiable stressor within 3 months.
Acute Stress Disorder
Symptoms similar to PTSD occurring within 3 days to 1 month after trauma.
Dissociative Amnesia
Inability to recall important autobiographical information, usually following trauma, not due to substance.
Dissociative Identity Disorder
Presence of two or more distinct personality states with memory gaps.
Depersonalisation/Derealisation Disorder
Persistent feelings of unreality or detachment from self or surroundings.
Major Depressive Disorder
Episode(s) of depressed mood and/or anhedonia with accompanying symptoms (weight change, sleep problems, fatigue, concentration issues, guilt, suicidality).
Delusions of Persecution
Belief that one is being persecuted, watched, or harmed.
Delusions of Reference
Belief that ordinary events have hidden meaning intended for the individual.
Delusions of Grandeur
Belief of having extraordinary powers, wealth, or fame.
Delusions of Control
Belief that external forces control thoughts, feelings, or actions.
Positive Symptoms
Added experiences such as delusions, hallucinations, and disorganized speech.
Poverty of Speech (Alogia)
Reduction in speech output or content.
Blunted/Flat Affect
Limited or diminished emotional expression.
Catatonia
Psychomotor disturbance including stupor, rigidity, and posturing.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that impedes functioning.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Impairments in social interaction and communication skills with restricted, repetitive behaviors.
Intellectual Disability
IQ 70 or below with deficits in adaptive behavior.
Specific Learning Disability
Difficulties in perceiving or processing information effectively in specific academic areas.
Catatonia Subtypes (Stupor, Rigidity, Posturing)
Catatonic features such as stupor, waxy rigidity, and unusual postures.
