The first step of DNA replication is:
Initiation: DNA Helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the nucleotides, making the DNA disconnect.
The second step of DNA replication is:
Elongation: DNA Polymerase moves along each DNA strand while adding complementary bases.
The third step of DNA replication is:
Termination: DNA Ligase joins the nucleotides with hydrogen bonds; leaving one original half and one new half.
A complementary base is:
A complementary base is either of the two nitrogen-containing sections of a nucleotide that bond together to connect strands of DNA or RNA
A DNA Molecule is called semi-conservative because:
it contains one original strand and one new strand
The ‘lagging’ strand of DNA contains Okazaki fragments because
the fragments still need to be ligated together.
