Web Apps: HTTP Error Codes

200 OK

The request has succeeded, everything is OK

201 Created

The request has been fulfilled and a new resource has been created

202 Accepted

The request has been accepted for processing, but not completed

204 No Content

The request succeeded but there is no content to send.

301 Moved Permanently

The resource has been permanently moved to a new URL.

302 Moved Temporarily

The resource temporarily resides under a different URL.

304 Not Modified

The resource has not been modified since the last request.

400 Bad Request

The server cannot process the request due to client error.

401 Unauthorized

Authentication is required and has failed or not been provided.

403 Forbidden

The server understood the request but refuses to authorize it.

404 Not Found

The requested resource could not be found.

418 I’m a Teapot

The server refuses to brew coffee because it is a teapot.

500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an unexpected condition.

501 Not Implemented

The server does not support the functionality required; things aren’t working

502 Bad Gateway

The server received an invalid response from the upstream server; the path to the correct server is blocked, server has issues and cannot get there

503 Service Unavailable

The server is currently unavailable (overloaded or down for maintenance); you’re requesting something that’s not working

Reserved for future use, hasn’t been invented yet

2xx

Successful, understood, and accepted; has a response for you

3xx

Further action needed to complete; need to do something else

4xx

Bad syntax in client request; it’s your fault

5xx

Server can’t fulfill a good request; it’s their fault
