slavery was legitmate for those who were born natural slaves, as without masters they wouldn't have known how to run their lives. In fact Aristotle seems to have thought that slaves were 'living tools' rather like domestic animals, fit only for physical labour.

“Man is by nature a political animal”

 a human being who does not want to live in a state or does not live in a state he says is either an animal or a god either superhuman or subhuman. The fact we all communicate with each other and have such complex forms of speech, with complex words such as justice were all meant to live together in a state.
