Blood Pressure (Normal Range)

Systolic
Represents the pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts and pumps blood out into the body.
Diastolic
Indicates the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest between beats.
Orthostatic Hypotension
A drop in blood pressure when a person stands up from a sitting or lying position. The heart triggers a reflex response that increases heart rate and narrows blood vessels to maintain blood pressure. Individuals with orthostatic hypotension have this reflex response impaired, leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure upon standing.
