What are the 4 necessary conditions for evolution
Struggle for survival, inheritable variation within a population, variation of fitness, lots of time
Struggle for survival
Competetition between living things to survive. When there are more animals than the environment can handle so they compete for resources
Inheritable variation
Before the environment can choose the best traits, those traits must already exist in the population and those differences must be genetic./ individuals in a species have different traits that are passed down from parents to offspring.
Variation of fitness amongst members of the same population
An organisms ability to survive and reproduce, high fitness means higher chance to survive and reproduce more. When it has offspring it will give them its good genes that result in useful trait
Lots of time
Over many generations. 100 years is the magic number for time for evolution
Population
Multiple members of the same species ( giraffes in grassland is population)
Inheritable trait
A trait that can be passed to offspring caused by variations in genes
Inheritable
