Innervates the masseter muscle (*jaw movement), the velar muscle, a middle ear muscle (to protect from loud sounds)

the face from the optothalamic division (forehead, eyelids, nasal cavity), maxillary division(upper lip, cheek, nose, hard palate, upper teeth, jaw), mandibular division (mandible, lower lip and teeth, external auditory mandible).
