Backed rebels righting USSR and US and others boycotted 1980 Olympics. Many modern day terrorists gained distrust and hatred for US.

New economic policy that called for lowering taxes to build economy. Often called "supply side" economics or "trickle down".
Modern Liberals
Believe in government regulation to protect from corporations and wealthy elites. They support social programs to help disadvantaged. They oppose government regulation of social behavior (anti-monopolies).
Modern Conservatives
Distrust government regulation of economy and want to limit social programs. They want to spend more on defense and believe social problems result from morality and character.
Deficit spending
Spending more money than what is collected.
Reagan's budget
Included huge tax cuts for mostly the wealthy and businesses, cuts to a variety of social programs, and huge increases in military spending. This resulted in historic debt for the US government.

African American arrested for DUI in LA. Video was released of him being severely beaten by multiple cops on the side of the road. Video went viral. Officers found not guilty and sparked nationwide riots.

1989 pro democracy rally in China. Chinese troops were killed in and killed hundreds of protestors.

Unrest in the Middle East led to a series of revolutions. Started in Turisia and spread to Lybia, Egypt, and Syria.
