George Washington
He issued the Neutrality Proclamation during a European conflict and famously crushed the Whiskey Rebellion shortly after it was formed. His farewell address warned against the dangers of factions (political parties) and permanent foreign alliances. He was the 1st president of the United States.
Thomas Jefferson
He fought the Barbary Pirates and his non-importation policies were disastrously enforced by the Embargo Act of 1807. He authorized the Louisiana Purchase from France and commissioned the Lewis and Clark expedition to explore it. He was the 3rd president of the United States.
Andrew Jackson
His administration was rocked by the Petticoat Affair and the resulting rift with his Vice President, John C. Calhoun, over the Nullification Crisis. He was the first to invoke the Sherman Antitrust Act to break up the Northern Securities Company, and later championed the Square Deal domestic policy. He led the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill and secured the land rights to build the Panama Canal. He was the 26th president of the United States.
Woodrow Wilson
He oversaw the passage of the Federal Reserve Act and campaigned on the slogan "He Kept Us Out of War" before entering World War I. His primary contribution to the postwar peace process was the creation of the League of Nations as part of his Fourteen Points plan. He was the 28th president of the United States.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)
He signed the Lend-Lease Act to aid Allied nations and his attempts to implement a "court-packing" scheme failed. The only President elected to four terms, he initiated the New Deal to combat the Great Depression. He was the 32nd president of the United States.
Harry S. Truman
He unexpectedly defeated Thomas Dewey in the 1948 election and fired General Douglas MacArthur during the Korean War. He implemented the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe and ordered the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was the 33rd president of the United States.
John F. Kennedy (JFK)
His domestic program was called the New Frontier, and he first called for the creation of the Peace Corps. He managed the Cuban Missile Crisis and promised to land a man on the Moon by the end of the decade. He was the 35th president of the United States.
Ronald Reagan
His administration faced the Iran-Contra Affair scandal and his economic policy was referred to by critics as "trickle-down" or Reaganomics. He famously called the Soviet Union the "Evil Empire" and urged Gorbachev to "Tear down this wall!" in Berlin. He was the 40th president of the United States.

He broke his famous "read my lips: no new taxes" pledge and signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He successfully commanded the international coalition during the Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm). He was the 41st president of the United States.

He signed the NAFTA agreement and achieved the nation's first budget surplus in decades, but was later impeached on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. He signed the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and campaigned on the theme of "putting people first." He was the 42nd president of the United States.
