How did the Great Depression affect people of the Older Generation? List two BIG factors!

People started having a favorable attitude toward government involvement in life, especially from FDR’s New Deal, which put people back to work by creating government jobs.

FDR’s Social Security program made many people of this generation support him beacuse it provided senior’s with support and lifted many members of that age group out of poverty.

It brought the nation together against fascism and created a sense of belief in the U.S. government.

It was the large amount of people from the Silent Generation that voted for FDR and the democrats after him.

Why did a ton of Boomers (people who came after the Silent Generation, which was largely Democratic) switch to becoming conservative?

It’s because a ton of other Boomers started switching. The media, peers, school, etc., likely played a role at switching their beliefs (lifestyle effects!).

What political event shaped how Millennials’ vote for? What was their effects?

9/11 and the miltary conflicts in Afghanistan & Iraq.

For 9/11: It made people more patriotic as the attack threatened national security. It also group of people believed that the United States should be less involved in the Middle East.

For Afghanistan & Iraq: It shaped views on foreign intervention, leading many Millennials to support a more cautious approach to military engagement.

What impact did the Great Recession have on Millennials?

It made them shift the attitudes toward government redistribution of wealth. 70% started to support government intervention in a failing econoomy.
