What is the series of the human body?

The human body is organized in a series of levels that build upon the other in order to create us, a complex living system. This hierarchy begins with the smallest unit of life, the cell(opens in a new tab). Similarly functioning cells work together to form tissues(opens in a new tab), and groups of tissues that perform a specific function make up organs(opens in a new tab). Groups of organs that work together to perform one or more larger functions make up an organ system(opens in a new tab). In an autopsy, all levels of organization are evaluated in order to determine the cause of death. Let’s start with a system view and work our way down these levels!
