Most unstable allowable quadrant (truck crane)
Side.
Tagline
A rope used when rotation of a load would be dangerous.
Anti-two-block prevention system
A system that will stop the crane operation to prevent damage (unlike a warning device which only warns).
Mats or cribbing
Materials used to reduce ground pressure.
RT crane tipping capacity (retracted outriggers)
Based on 75% of tipping.
Load radius
The distance from the center of rotation to the center of gravity of the suspended load.
Boom extension primary reason
To increase height.
Minimum design factor (Right regular lay main hoist)
3.5.
Net capacity
Gross capacity minus capacity deductions.
Structural competence (Load Chart)
Indicated when rated capacity is above the solid line, in shaded areas, or has an asterisk.
Running wire rope removal (one strand)
Requires removal from service if 3 broken wires are present in one strand of one lay.
Standard crane rope
Right regular lay.
Counterweight safety
Fencing or barricading the swing area to prevent injury.
Outrigger extension requirement
Should only be less than fully extended if there is a specific load chart for that operation.
Rubber-tired crane rating
75% of tipping.
Backward stability test
Tested with basic boom at maximum angle with no load.
Parts of line
The number of vertical lines running between the load block and boom tip.
Standing wire rope removal (one lay)
Requires replacement if there are 2 broken wires between end sockets in one lay.
Man basket test pick duration
Must be maintained for 5 minutes.
Power transfer to swing
Through a pinion gear.
LMI requirement threshold
Required on cranes with a lifting capacity of 3 tons and above.
Frequent inspection
Daily to monthly.
Periodic inspection
Monthly to annually.
Test load limit
Shall not exceed 110% of manufacturer load ratings.
Maximum crane hook twist
10 degrees.
Maximum hook throat opening
15% of its original size.
Jib Offset
The jib angle relative to the boom.
Least ground pressure quadrant (mobile truck crane)
Side.
Basket hitch capacity
200% of a vertical hitch's capacity.
Pendant wire rope removal (end connection)
1 broken wire at the end connection.
Luffing Jib
A jib that works independent of the main boom.
Rotation resistant wire rope internal damage sign
Shrinkage in rope diameter.
Telescopic boom angle
The angle measured between the centerline of the loaded boom and the horizontal.
