New cards

Individuals can…?

individuals can live on their own! They do though have certain adaptations that to help them increase survival (physiological, behavioral, etc.

2
New cards

What is a population

All individuals that belong to the same species within one area

3
New cards

What is a community

a collection OF POPULATIONS which interact —> may complete! WA IS A COMMUNITY TILL UR FIGHTING TO LEAVE THE SENIOR LOT !

4
New cards

Ecosystems

A collection of populations that interact —> eating, fertilization, and competition

5
New cards

Biosphere

The highest ecological level that focuses on the movement of matter and energy

6
New cards

EXPLAIN the difference between Kinesis and Taxis

kinesis is when organizing respond to a unfavorable stimuli and increase movement to get away

Taxis is when organisms move to a specific direction

TAXIS —> TO SMTH OR ANYTHING

KINESIS —> KILLIN ME (as in it needs to get away, see what I did there idek I tried)

7
New cards

Hormones in taxis?

the hormone is called auxins! It causes growth and elongation

8
New cards

What is a photoperiod?

photoperiod is the number of sunlit hours of the day

photo -SYNTHESIS LETS GET INTO THISSSS (SUNNN)

period- period of time (so hrs in a day!)

This is important as different plants grow different based on the hrs of sunlight!!! (MAKES SENSEEEE)

9
New cards

Who uses photoperiods and HOW?

Animals use to know when to move/migrate

Mammals use to stimulate hormones to produce when survival rate is highest

10
New cards

Communication!! Explain visual communication

Seen by another individual and can show attractiveness —> mating!

11
New cards

Auditory communication

sending signals to communicate danger, to attract, or to warn if a predator is approaching

12
New cards

chemical communication

releasing chemicals in the air signaling readiness to mate, a dropped food trail, warning predators, scare other animals

13
New cards

Tactile communication

organisms respond using touch (mostly vibrations)

14
New cards

electrical communications

electrical signal used to pass on information

15
New cards

What is the difference between innate and learned behaviors

Innate - instinctive behaviors that can be performed without experience

learned - behavior animals learn to ignore a stimulus

16
New cards

Cooperative behaviors

when being friendly with other species helps animals keep a eye out for food
