Phrasal Verb Pronoun Object Rule
When the object of a phrasal verb is a pronoun, it is always placed between the verb and preposition.

To borrow or inspect an item, such as checking out a book from the library or checking out a movie for a week.
Sign in
To log into a system or platform, such as signing into a website.
Come back
To return to a place or location, such as coming back home or returning from a trip.
Throw away
To dispose of unwanted items or trash, such as throwing rubbish into a bin.
Turn on
To activate or supply power to a device or light, such as turning on the lights.
Take off
To remove clothing (e.g., taking off a coat or shoes) or for an aircraft to leave the ground.
Belong to
To be the property of or affiliated with someone or something, such as belonging to the school.
Fall over
To trip or lose balance and land on the ground, such as falling over on the ice.
Stand up
To rise to one's feet, such as standing up to state your name.
Sit down
To take a seated position, such as sitting down before a plane takes off.
Get in
To arrive at a destination, such as a train getting in at 13:00.
Get up
To rise from bed or a resting position, especially early in the morning.
Go out
To leave home for leisure, social activities, or dining out.
Go back
To return to a previous position or place, such as going back to the post office.
Put away
To return items to their proper storage place, such as putting away toys or clothes.
Put on
To place an item of clothing or accessory onto one's body, such as putting on a hat.
Put down
To place an object on a surface, such as putting down a pencil or a bag on the table.
Turn over
To flip something so the other side faces up, such as turning over a test paper.
Turn off
To deactivate or shut down a device or game, such as turning off a phone during a show.
Hand in
To submit work or documents, such as handing in homework by Friday.
Pick up
To collect or collect someone from a location, such as picking up a friend or daughter after school.
