Midbrain - Mesencephalon

Turning on the beginning of your day and turning off the end of your day

Pons - Mesencephalon

breathing and hearth rate control

Medulla - Mesencephalon

Lowest part - where the spinal cord goes into the brain

The left side of the body crosses over to the right side of the brain

The right side of the body crosses over to the left side of the brain

Cerebellum - Mesencephalon

The limbic system (Emotional System) / diencephalon

a collection of structures in the brain that includes the diencephalon. Contains motor system, connection, development

These parts work together in unison;

Hypothalamus, Thalamus, Septal, Hippocampus

Hypothalamus - Diencephalon

critical for basic things. what makes you warm or hot, Makes you drink water, makes you eat

Thalamus - Diencephalon

Motor signals, Sensory signals, Hearing, Taste, Sight, Touch

Septal - Diencephalon

Has to do with turning on or off sexual desires

Hippocampus

Where memory's are made, where info is stored, Can be burned out with trauma

Connection system, C-shaped bundle of nerve fibers that that connect the two sides of the brain

Commissures: Anterior & posterior

The anterior commissure works with the posterior commissure to link the two left and right cerebral hemispheres of the brain

Cerebral Cortex

the outermost layer of the brain. It's made up of folded gray matter that covers the surface of the two cerebral hemispheres.

Frontal, Temporal, Occipital, Parietal

Gyrus

A ridge or fold between two clefts on the cerebral surface in the brain.

Frontal Lobe - Cerebral Cortex

 memory, personality, emotions, impulse control, problem solving, social interaction, and motor function.

Temporal Lobe - Cerebral Cortex

processing auditory information and with the encoding of memory

Occipital Lobe - Cerebral Cortex

Visual part, tries to make sense of sensory information

Parietal Lobe - Cerebral Cortex

sensory motor integration
