unconditioned stimulus (US)
eg. smell of pizza. you don’t have to be conditioned to experience the response, its innate .
conditioned stimulus (CS)
eg. dinner bell. neutral stimulus becomes conditioned after being conditioned to have a response to it.
always physiologically the same
unconditioned and conditioned response
acquisituion
the process of associating us and ur with cs and cr
stimulus generalization
when a similar but different stimulus causes the same response as the conditioned stimulus
extinction
the process of disassociating the us and ur with the cs and cr
spontaneous recovery
long after extinction, the conditioned stimulus randomly causes the conditioned response.
little albert experiment
us: loud noise
ur: flinch/crying
cs: bunny
cr: flinch/crying
stimulus generalization: different animals still made the baby cry
