Public Policy
A course of action created and enforced by government to manage issues that affect society, including environmental protection.
Environmental Protection Agency
A U.S. government agency established to enforce regulations that protect the environment.
Golden Age of Conservation
A period initiated by President Theodore Roosevelt characterized by significant environmental protection and establishment of national parks.
Clean Air Act
A U.S. law enacted in 1963 aimed at combating air pollution and protecting air quality.
Cap and Trade Policy
An environmental policy that provides economic incentives for reducing pollution emissions.
Green Taxes
Taxes levied on activities that harm the environment, designed to promote environmentally friendly practices.
Market Permits
Permits that can be bought to allow a certain level of pollution emissions, encouraging reductions in pollution.
Globalization
The process of increased interconnectedness and communication between countries worldwide.
Montreal Accord
An international treaty established in 1978 aimed at phasing out substances that deplete the ozone layer.
Kyoto Protocol
