Lenin had no intention of sharing power with other revolutionary groups

What was the purpose of the Lenin decrees?

Appease peasants and minorities and mitigate chances of rebellion, keep popular support

What was the land decree?

Gave peasants the right to take over the estates of the gentry, without compensation, and to decide for themselves the best way to divide it up. Belonged to the entire ppl and couldn’t be bought/sold/rented

What was the Workers’ control decree?

Factory committees were given the right to control production+finance in the workplaces+ to supervise management.

What was a negative of the workers control decree?

Wasn’t what the Bs wanted, but they couldn’t resist the strength of workers pressure for reform

What was the Rights of the People of Russia decree?

Gave the right of self determination to national minorities in the former russian empire, in reality, this was just a paper measure as the Bs didn’t have control in areas most ppl loved

Why was the B gvmt in fragile condition?

They were facing protests over the 1 party rule, divisions in the party over a proposed socialist coalition, L refused the idea and some Bs temporarily resigned

What was altered to ensure the Bs could retain power?

Lenin’s early policies, in response to pressures from the masses

What did the Bs crush?

Opposition and developed forces of terror and coercion, esp the Cheka

Unfavourable Treaty of Brent-Litovsk
