What is the genetic code?
The sequence of bases in DNA that determines the sequence of amino acids in polypeptides.
What does it mean that the genetic code is a triplet code?
Each amino acid is coded for by a sequence of 3 DNA bases.
What does it mean that the genetic code is universal?
The same DNA triplet codes for the same amino acid in almost all organisms.
What does it mean that the genetic code is non-overlapping?
Each base is read only once.
What does it mean that the genetic code is degenerate?
Most amino acids are coded for by more than 1 triplet.
According to the transcript's example, what mRNA codon is transcribed from the DNA sequence CCA, and which amino acid does it code for?
It is transcribed into the mRNA codon GGU, which codes for the amino acid GLY.
Which two DNA triplets are shown as examples that both code for the amino acid CYS?
ACA and ACG.
