Element
A pure substance that cannot be broken down into other substances.
Atom
The smallest particle of an element. All matter is made of these.

Molecule
A group of two or more atoms held together by a chemical bond.
Compound
A pure substance made of two or more elements chemically bonded in a specific ratio, or proportion.
Mixture
Two or more substances that are together physically in the same place but their atoms are not chemically bonded.
Matter
Anything that has mass and takes up space.
Mechanical Mixture (Heterogeneous Mixture)
Mixture in which you can easily see the different substances that make it. (ex: salad, sand)
Solution (Homogeneous Mixture)
A mixture in which you cannot see the different particles that make it. (ex: juice, broth)
