Take place

To happen or occur.

“The concert will take place next Saturday.”

As time went by

Over a period of time; as time passed.

“As time went by, the old castle slowly turned to ruins.”

Having been on

Because someone was previously on/in a specific situation (used to explain current knowledge).

"Having been on the council for ten years, she knew all their secrets.”

Give (something) a wipe

To clean a surface quickly using a cloth.

“Would you mind giving these plates a wipe?”

Sides of the argument

The different, usually opposing, points of view in a discussion.

Taking a step back

Pausing what you are doing to consider the situation objectively or look at the bigger picture.
