What are people with chronic stress at higher risk for?
Hypertension, heart disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, T2 diabetes
What is toxic stress?
prolonged/chronic stress - body learn experiences of stress, fear, or trauma are normal.
What are some physical manifestations of stress? (not common ones)
insomnia, headaches, GI issues, sexual dysfunction, weakened immune, dry mouth, palpitations, SOB, sweating.
What are some psychological and behavioral manifestations of stress?
Panic attacks, worry, eating disorders, substance use/addictive, alterations in problem solving/language, delayed development, compulsive.
