What is the functionalist view of family diversity?
Traditionally suggest the nuclear family is the only family type which can effectively perform functions society requires of it (Parsons, Murdock).
What is the feminist view of family diversity?
See it positively. Different family types offer alternatives to the nuclear family, which is traditionally patriarchal. Some radical feminists support female only families.
What is the marxist view of family diversity?
Don’t say that much. Avoid if possible.
Would say family diversity reflects the changing shape and needs of capitalism.
What is the New Right view of the family?
Dislike family diversity as it reverts away from the conventional, nuclear family. A breakdown of the nuclear family creates a break down in society and increases dependency culture.
