Ionic Bond
The bond that exists between oppositely charged particles, usually between a metal and a nonmetal.
Covalent Bond
A bond that exists between two atoms, usually nonmetals, that are sharing electrons.
Metallic Bond
A bond that exists when electrons freely move between metal ions.
Charge
The result of electrons being added or removed from atoms, which can be positive or negative.
Valence Electrons
An electron that is found in the outermost level of an atom.
Lewis Dot Diagram
A diagram that displays the number of valence electrons in each element.
