What is task behavior?
emphasis of goal accomplishment, facilitates production, and organizes work
What is relationship behavior?
emphasis on connecting with others, focus on follower well-being, builds rapport
What is the Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ)?
identifies # of times leaders engaged in specific behaviors, participant settings, and results in particular clusters of behaviors typical of that person as a leader
What are the initiating structure behaviors (as identified by OSU)?
leaders provide structure for subordinates
task behaviors like organizing work, giving structure to work context, and defining role responsibility
What are the consideration behaviors (as identified by OSU)?
leaders nurture subordinates
relationship behaviors like respect, trust, and building rapport
What is employee orientation (as identified by U of M?)
strong human relations emphasis - leaders take interest in employees as humans, attention to personal needs
What is production orientation (as identified by U of M?)
stresses the tecnical aspects of a job - workers seen as more as means to get the job done
