Appeasement
The process of negotiation between parties in order to avoid conflict.
Fascism
A far-right political ideology with a single supreme leader; ultranationalist; patriarchal.
Three Principles of Fascism
1) Everything inside the state (the government must know your actions) 2) Nothing outside the state (do not hide anything from the state) 3) Nothing against the state (following the state's rules is essential to maintain the system)
Origin of Fascism
Founded by Benito Mussolini in 1921 due to Italy’s economic disparity and political chaos.
Axis Powers
Germany, Italy, and Japan—nations that adopted fascist ideologies and formed a military alliance.
Expansionism
The policy of expanding a country’s territory by invading neighboring regions to gain resources and power.
Rearmament
The process of rebuilding a country’s military forces after disarmament or limits.
Motorisation
The policy of arming and equipping the military with motorized transport and mechanized forces.
Allied Powers
The nations opposing the Axis in World War II (e.g., Britain, France).
Great Depression
The global economic downturn that contributed to political and economic instability before World War II.
Why Axis powers converted to fascism
Because fascism helped them recover from economic and political distress, and they weathered WWI and the Great Depression better than the Allies due to their conversion.
Impact of fascism on Axis expansion
The Axis used fascist ideology to unify states, consolidate control, and pursue expansionist aims.
