Integumentary System
The system consisting of the skin, hair, sweat glands, and nails; its main jobs are to protect the body, help control body temperature, and allow the sensation of pain, temperature, and touch.
Skeletal System
The system made of bones, cartilage, ligaments, joints, and bone marrow; it supports the body, protects organs, helps with movement, makes blood cells, and stores minerals.
Muscular System
The system including skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle; it is responsible for moving the body, maintaining posture, and producing body heat.
Nervous System
The system comprising the brain, spinal cord, and nerves; it controls and coordinates the body, sends messages throughout the body, and helps respond to the environment.
Endocrine System
The system containing glands such as the pituitary, thyroid, pancreas, adrenal, ovaries, and testes; it makes hormones to control growth, metabolism, reproduction, and other body processes.
Cardiovascular System
The system consisting of the heart, blood, and blood vessels; it moves blood around the body to deliver oxygen and nutrance while carrying away waste.
Lymphatic System
The system composed of the spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, lymphatic vessels, and tonsils; its job is to fight infections and disease and return extra fluid to the bloodstream.
Respiratory System
The system including the nose/nasal cavities, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, and alveoli; it brings oxygen into the body and removes carbon dioxide.
Digestive System
The system consisting of the teeth, toungue, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas; it breaks down food, absorbs nutrients, and removes left over waste.
Urinary System
The system containing the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra; it removes waste from the blood, makes urine, and controls water and salt blance.
Male Reproductive System
The system including the testes, epididymis, ductus defens, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, penis, and scrotum; it produces sperm and male sex hormones to allow reproduction.
Female Reproductive System
The system made of ovaries, clitoris, uterine tubes, mammary glands, uterus, vagina, and labia; it produces eggs and female sex hormones, and supports pregnancy, childbirth, and milk production.
