Allah
In the Islam faith, the name for God.
Jinazah (funeral prayer)
1. Should occur as soon as possible after the body is prepared.
2. The remains are placed on a bier (platform).
3. The bier is carried to the place where the funeral prayer or prayers will be performed.
4. All persons in the funeral procession participate in carrying the bier unless it is being carried by vehicle or wagon.
Burial
1. Occurs immediately following the funeral prayer.
2. The bier or casket is carried to the grave.
3. Burial should be in a Muslim cemetery if possible.
4. Body is placed into the grave on his/her right side facing east.
5. If a casket is used:
a. The body is placed on his/her right side in the casket
b. If the body is placed on his/her back in the casket then the casket is buried with the deceased's had to the east.
6. The ties of the wrapping cloth should be loosened.
7. The grave, when filled, may be mounded about 1 foot above the surrounding ground.
8. The grave may be marked with a stone so it can be identified.
9. Cremation is forbidden.
P.B.U.H
The salutation called the salawat. Translated to Peace be upon him/her. Used after mentioning the name of the prophet or of angels.

Qiblah
Direction of mecca toward which Muslims face during prayers.
Ghusl
Ritual purification (washing) takes the form or ablution, in a lesser form (wudu), and greater form (ghusl), depending on the circumstances; the greater form is obligatory by a woman after she ceases menstruation, on a corpse that didn't die during battle and after sexual activity, and is optionally used on other occasions, for example just prior to Friday prayers or entering ihram.

At the time of death
1. Eyes of the deceased should be closed.
2. Prayers are to be said (recited).
3. Deceased should be covered.
4. Imam should be contacted but is not required.
Removal and preparation of remains
1. No restrictions on removal of the remains.
2. Embalming is prohibited except when required.
3. Washing of the body (ceremonial washing)
a. Body is washed an odd number of times, at least 3
b. Preference is: men wash men & women wash women.
c. Family members may be present and participate.
Dressing
1. Deceased is wrapped in white cloth rather than dressed in traditional clothing.
2. Cloth should cover entire body.
3. Wrapping cloth should be 3 pieces for men and 5 pieces for Women.
4. Silky materials should not be used.
Casketing
1. The body may be placed in a casket or may be buried un-casketed.
2. If a casket is used:
a. It should have no images or symbols.
b. It may be made of any materials.
Viewing
1. Viewing is optional and depends on:
a. Family desire
b. Local custom
2. Viewing may occur either before or after ceremony of washing.
3. Once wrapped, the body should not be unwrapped for viewing.
4. Body is not viewed once it is placed in the casket.
