Subchondral tissue
The smooth tissue found at the ends of bones which is covered by cartilage in the joints.
Cancellous tissue
Also known as spongy bone, this is the porous, honeycomb-like internal tissue of the bone.
Marrow
The soft, flexible tissue in the central cavities of bones where blood cells are produced.
Compact tissue
The hard, dense outer layer of bone that provides structural strength and protection.
