Personality
Pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions that are characteristic of a person.
Big Five Personality Model
A model that identifies five broad factors (traits) that account for differences in personality.
Openness to Experience
A trait characterized by curiosity, creativity, and adaptability.
Conscientiousness
A trait reflecting organization, responsibility, and dependability.
Extraversion
A trait characterized by sociability, talkativeness, and assertiveness.
Agreeableness
A trait characterized by compassion, kindness, and cooperativeness.
Neuroticism
A trait reflecting anxiety, insecurity, and emotional instability.
Motivational Strivings
The pursuit of goals based on personality traits.
Accomplishment Striving
The tendency to set and work towards task-related goals.
Status Striving
The tendency to pursue power and influence within social structures.
Communion Striving
The value placed on establishing meaningful relationships with others.
Narcissism
A pool of socially aversive traits characterized by a grandiose sense of self.
Psychopathy
A trait characterized by callousness and thrill-seeking behaviors.
Machiavellianism
A trait characterized by manipulation and power-seeking behaviors.
Dark Triad
A collection of three socially aversive traits: Narcissism, Psychopathy, and Machiavellianism.
Power Distance
The degree to which less powerful members of organizations defer to more powerful members.
Individualism-Collectivism
The degree to which individuals prioritize personal goals versus group goals.
Uncertainty Avoidance
The degree to which people perceive ambiguity as a threat or an opportunity.
Masculinity vs. Femininity
Cultural values associated with assertiveness and competition versus collaboration and employee well-being.
Cognitive Ability
The relatively stable capability to perform a range of different but related activities.
Verbal Ability
The ability to communicate through oral and written comprehension and expression.
Quantitative Ability
The ability to use numbers and apply mathematical reasoning to solve problems.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to think critically and logically to solve problems.
Spatial Ability
The ability to grasp spatial relations and manipulate mental images.
Perceptual Ability
The ability to understand patterns and identify similarities/differences among objects.
General Cognitive Ability (G-Factor)
The idea that there is a general level of cognitive ability affecting all specific components of intelligence.
Emotional Intelligence
The ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions in oneself and others.
Self-Awareness
The ability to recognize and understand one's own emotions.
Other Awareness
The ability to recognize and understand emotions in others.
Emotion Regulation
The ability to manage one’s own and others’ emotions.
Use of Emotions
The ability to harness emotions to achieve specific goals.
Psychological Safety
An environment where individuals feel safe to take risks and express their ideas.
Workplace Productivity
The effectiveness of employees in achieving organizational goals.
Citizenship Behaviour
Voluntary behaviors that contribute to the organizational environment.
