Key

a key is a tool used to organise objects or organisms

Rules for Keys

1. Do not use subjective words to separate groups 

2. Compare opposite features for e.g. do not compare colour with shape in the same leg

3. Only make 2 branches per leg [if this is not done a Dichotomous key cannot be formed from your Spider key

Spider Key

Easier to arrange the information in a spider key before setting it up in the traditional dichotomous key format

Dichotomous Key

The same information presented in a traditional dichotomous key format would have a number with two opposing points. Typically, the dichotomous key has one less than the spider key
