Relates to the social and cultural conditions into which people are born, grow, live, work and age.
Family
Families can provide support for young people when they need assistance with important issues and is also the main provider for many resources, such as shelter, food, clothing, emotional support and educational opportunities.
Peer group
The peer group becomes even more influential during youth. Youth are frequently influenced by their peers when making decisions about health behaviours.
Health literacy
Health literacy relates to how people access, understand and use health information and services in ways that promote and maintain health and wellbeing. A high level of health literacy is strongly linked to improved health outcomes.
Education
Having high levels of education helps with future career options and help earn a source of income.
Income
Higher income typically provides safer, better-serviced communities; low-income areas may have limited services and higher crime, affecting overall health outcomes.
