Radio Waves
The lowest-energy, lowest-frequency, and longest-wavelength electromagnetic waves.
Electromagnetic Waves
Waves that are produced by alternating current and can travel through the atmosphere.
Ionosphere
A layer of charged particles in the upper atmosphere that reflects medium wavelength radio waves for long distance communication.
Digital Radio
Radio that uses digital signals for better-quality reception and reduced noise and interference.
Microwaves
Very short radio waves that are high-frequency and high-energy.
Reflection
The bouncing back of microwaves from metal surfaces.
Heating
The process by which microwaves cause materials to vibrate, resulting in heat.
Interference
The problem that occurs when multiple radio stations use similar transmission frequencies.
Transmission
The process of sending information through waves like radio and microwaves.
