6
New cards

Name the enzyme, substrate and product you used to investigate the effect of heat denaturation on the rate of enzyme activity

Enzyme: Catalase

Substrate: Hydrogen Peroxide

Product: Water and Oxygen (Foam)

7
New cards

Describe how you carried out this investigation

  • Place 10cmÂł of boiled catalase in a graduated cylinder

  • Add buffer pH 9 and a drop of washing-up liquid

  • Add 10cmÂł of hydrogen peroxide to a test tube

  • Leave both in a water bath at 25deg celsius for 5 minutes

  • pour hydrogen peroxide into graduated cylinder and record the volume of foam produced.
