Straw Man
is one that argues against a hyperbolic, inaccurate version of the opposition rather than their actual argument.
Glittering generality
An emotionally appealing phrase so closely associated with highly valued concept and beliefs that it Carrie’s conviction without supporting information or reason.
Anecdotal evidence
The use of evidence or isolated example that reply on personal testimony to support or refute a claim.
Slippery slope
arguer claims a specific series of events will follow one starting point, typically with no supporting evidence for this chain of events.
Red Herring Fallacy
diverting attention from the real issue by focusing instead on an issue having only a surface relevance to the first.
Fallacy fallacy
an idea which many people believe to be true, but which is in fact false because it is based on incorrect information or reasoning
Genetic fallacy
the act of rejecting or accepting an argument on the basis of its origin rather than its content
Loose/ hasty generalization
statement made after considering just one or a few examples rather than relying on more extensive research to back up the claim.
Single cause and effect
Claiming that only one event cause another when there’s no real connection
Non sequitur
The first part of the idea does not relate to the other

Suggesting two alternatives when the issue may be more complex
Band wagon
the arguer claims that a certain action is the right thing to do because it’s popular.
False authority
Draw away form evidence and lean on popularity if someone
