Central Nervous System

The main processing center of the nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord.

Peripheral Nervous System

The system that connects the CNS to the organs and limbs (arms and legs).

Brain

A main component of the Central Nervous System comprising the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem.

Cerebrum

A major part of the brain containing the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, and occipital lobe.

Frontal Lobe

A lobe located within the cerebrum.

Parietal Lobe

A lobe located within the cerebrum.

Temporal Lobe

A lobe located within the cerebrum.

Occipital Lobe

A lobe located within the cerebrum.

Cerebellum

A distinct structural section of the brain alongside the cerebrum and brain stem.

Brain Stem

A component structure of the brain.

Spinal Cord

A major part of the Central Nervous System connected to spinal nerves.

Somatic Nervous System

A division of the PNS associated with the voluntary control of body movements.

Spinal Nerves

Nerves connected to the spinal cord that carry motor and sensory signals between the spinal cord and the body.

Cranial Nerves

Nerves classified under the Peripheral Nervous System.

Sensory Organs

Structures of the Peripheral Nervous System consisting of eyes, nose, tongue, ears, and skin.
