Organizational Culture
A system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes one organization from others.
Artifacts
Tangible manifestations of an organization’s culture that can be directly seen, heard, or read.
Values
Conceptions of the desirable; can be espoused (stated) or enacted (exhibited by leadership).
Assumptions
Underlying beliefs that have become taken-for-granted and are treated as obvious over time.
Competing Values Framework (CVF)
A model used to classify organizational cultures based on internal vs. external focus and flexibility vs. stability.
Strong Cultures
Cultures with high levels of agreement on values among members, leading to a strong sense of identity but potential lack of individuality.
Socialization Process
The process an organization uses to ensure new members acquire necessary attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and skills.
A.S.A. Model
Attraction-Selection-Attrition model explaining how potential employees are attracted to a culture, selected based on fit, and may leave if they do not fit.
